Cars: Saloon & Sports Cars - 101dB(A) measured statically at 0.5metres and 45deg angle, at ¾ maximum rpm

Bedford Autodrome

There are two noise tests. First your car will be subjected to a static test, in which the noise level is measured 50cm away from your exhaust pipe with the engine at 75% of maximum rpm. The reading must not exceed 101 dB(A).

Secondly, and more significantly, you car must comply with our drive-by noise limits. The noise emission from your car must not exceed 87 dB(A) measured 20 metres from your car, which shall be accelerating maximally at over 60mph.

All standard road production cars should get through these limits with ease.

The vehicle you intend to use must comply with noise level and silencing restrictions prevalent at the circuit, and may be subject to testing before taking part in any on track activity. MSV may prevent participation in any track day at any time for reasons of non-compliance with the noise restrictions.

All vehicles must conform to MOT minimum standards for road use, or MSA current safety and silencing regulations (and may be subject to scrutineering before taking part in any on track activity).

In cases where the vehicle has two seperated exhausts the measurement will be taken as above from the median point between the two.

No race engines may be run before 0830hrs or after 1830hrs without permission from the venue office.
