Vaulkhard and O'Young confirmed drivers, team eyes BTCC champion Turkington for three car assault

04/02/2010 - UK-based team Bamboo Engineering has announced that it will run a pair of Chevrolet Lacettis in the 2010 FIA World Touring Car Championship following its motorsport debut last season in the BTCC.
The squad, which was created by team principal Richard Coleman in 2009 following his split from BTCC squad Tempus Sport, has confirmed that it will run British driver Harry Vaulkhard and double Porsche Carrera Cup Asia champion Darryl O'Young in the Independents' Trophy.
Vaulkhard is particularly keen to get his 2010 campaign underway: "I'm under no illusions as to the task ahead of me. Sure its going to be a big challenge and a bit of a learning year especially in terms of the circuits - but the BTCC laid the foundations for this last year, so what I've got is more excitement than nerves," he told Autosport.
"All the guys I grew up idolising on the TV - Alain Menu, Gabriele Tarquini, Yvan Muller - are all there and I just can't wait to go up against them."
Bamboo Engineering boss Richard Coleman also revealed that the team could run a third car in the WTCC this year for 2009 British Touring Car Champion Colin Turkington, if the Ulsterman opts to switch to the world stage in 2010.
"We'd love to get him in the car," Coleman confirmed to Autosport. "He's a top line driver and we've both got ambitions on an international scale."
Tukington would complement an already strong British line-up that includes former WTCC champion Andy Priaulx and experienced Chevrolet driver Rob Huff.
Brands Hatch will host the only UK round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship in a double headline meeting with Formula Two on 17/18 July. Tickets are now on sale from £24 for adults, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0870 950 9000 or click on the link below.
